This Shipping Policy explains how Alicarrier prepares, arranges, dispatches, tracks, and delivers international shipments from China.
Alicarrier provides product sourcing, purchasing assistance, China warehouse receiving, basic inspection, parcel consolidation, repacking, and international shipping services.
By requesting a shipping quotation, paying international shipping charges, submitting delivery information, or authorizing Alicarrier to dispatch a shipment, you acknowledge that you have read and agreed to this Shipping Policy.
1. Scope of This Policy
This Shipping Policy applies to goods that Alicarrier:
- Purchases on behalf of a customer;
- Receives from Chinese suppliers or online marketplaces;
- Receives from customers who purchased products independently;
- Stores temporarily at an Alicarrier warehouse;
- Inspects, photographs, consolidates, or repacks;
- Arranges for shipment from China to an international destination.
This Policy should be read together with our:
- Terms of Service;
- Refund & Cancellation Policy;
- Restricted Items Policy;
- Claims and Compensation Policy;
- Privacy Policy.
If an individual quotation, invoice, shipment confirmation, carrier rule, or written agreement contains terms specific to a shipment, those shipment-specific terms will apply to that shipment.
2. Available Shipping Methods
Depending on the destination, product category, weight, dimensions, declared value, customs requirements, and current carrier availability, Alicarrier may arrange shipping through:
- International express courier;
- Air freight;
- Air cargo;
- Sea freight;
- Rail freight;
- Road or truck transportation;
- Postal or parcel channels;
- Door-to-door shipping;
- Door-to-port or port-to-port shipping;
- DDP shipping;
- DAP or duty-unpaid shipping;
- Specialized shipping channels for approved sensitive goods.
Not every shipping method is available for every country or product.
Alicarrier may refuse a requested shipping method when the goods, route, destination, documentation, or carrier restrictions make that method unsuitable or unavailable.
3. Shipping Recommendations
Alicarrier may recommend a shipping method based on:
- Destination country or region;
- Delivery address;
- Package weight and dimensions;
- Product category;
- Product value;
- Required delivery time;
- Customs-clearance requirements;
- Available carrier routes;
- Customer budget;
- Required handling or packaging;
- Whether the goods contain batteries, liquids, magnets, powders, branded products, or other restricted characteristics.
Shipping recommendations are based on the information available when the recommendation is made.
Carrier routes, acceptance rules, customs requirements, and freight rates may change without advance notice.
4. Shipping Quotations
A shipping quotation may include some or all of the following:
- International freight;
- Export handling;
- Warehouse dispatch handling;
- Packaging or reinforcement;
- Fuel surcharge;
- Security surcharge;
- Remote-area surcharge;
- Oversize or overweight surcharge;
- Customs declaration fees;
- Customs brokerage;
- Insurance;
- Destination handling;
- Duties and taxes, where expressly included;
- Other carrier or route-specific charges.
Unless expressly identified as final, a quotation issued before the package is fully packed, weighed, and measured is an estimate.
The final shipping charge is normally confirmed after:
- All goods have arrived at the warehouse;
- The requested inspection or photography has been completed;
- The customer has confirmed the goods for shipment;
- Consolidation and repacking have been completed;
- The final package weight and dimensions have been recorded;
- The applicable carrier route has been confirmed.
5. Chargeable Weight
International shipping charges may be calculated using:
- Actual gross weight;
- Volumetric or dimensional weight;
- Chargeable weight;
- Cubic volume;
- Minimum shipment weight;
- Carrier-specific billing units;
- Container, pallet, or cargo-space requirements.
Where a carrier compares actual weight with volumetric weight, the higher chargeable value may be used.
The volumetric calculation method and divisor may differ depending on the carrier, shipping method, route, destination, and package type.
Alicarrier may provide the recorded package weight and dimensions upon request, but the carrier’s verified measurements may be used for final billing.
6. Final Weight and Measurement Adjustments
A shipment may be reweighed or remeasured by:
- Alicarrier;
- A freight forwarder;
- An airline;
- A shipping line;
- A courier;
- A customs warehouse;
- A destination delivery provider.
If a carrier records a higher chargeable weight or applies an additional surcharge after dispatch, the customer may be required to pay the difference.
If Alicarrier receives a confirmed carrier adjustment that reduces the eligible freight cost, any applicable refund or account credit will be handled according to the shipment terms and our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
7. Warehouse Processing Before Shipment
Before international dispatch, Alicarrier may provide services such as:
- Parcel receiving;
- Parcel identification;
- Quantity checking;
- Basic visual inspection;
- Product photography;
- Package weighing and measurement;
- Removal of unnecessary outer packaging;
- Consolidation of multiple parcels;
- Repacking;
- Protective reinforcement;
- Waterproof packaging;
- Carton replacement;
- Palletization;
- Shipping-label preparation;
- Export-document preparation.
Some services may require additional fees.
Customers must inform Alicarrier before packing if:
- Original retail packaging must be preserved;
- Packages must not be consolidated;
- Goods must remain factory sealed;
- Separate items require separate shipments;
- Special labels are required;
- Products are fragile;
- Wooden crates, pallets, or special reinforcement are required;
- The package contains high-value or sensitive goods.
8. Customer Approval Before Dispatch
Alicarrier may request customer approval of:
- Product photographs;
- Basic inspection results;
- Final package quantity;
- Packaging method;
- Package weight and dimensions;
- Shipping route;
- Shipping quotation;
- Customs description;
- Declared value;
- Recipient information.
Once the customer approves shipment or pays the final international shipping charge, Alicarrier may proceed with dispatch.
Changes requested after carrier booking or export processing has begun may result in additional fees or may no longer be possible.
9. Processing Time
Processing time refers to the period required to prepare a shipment before it is handed to the international carrier.
Processing may include:
- Waiting for all supplier parcels to arrive;
- Matching parcels to the customer’s order;
- Inspection or photography;
- Consolidation;
- Repacking;
- Preparing shipping documents;
- Confirming carrier availability;
- Receiving final customer approval;
- Receiving full payment.
Processing time is separate from international transit time.
Alicarrier will provide an estimated processing time where reasonably possible, but actual processing may vary according to package volume, warehouse workload, product type, customer response time, carrier availability, and documentation requirements.
10. Dispatch Conditions
A shipment will normally be dispatched only after:
- The goods have arrived at the correct warehouse;
- The goods have been accepted for the selected shipping channel;
- Required packaging has been completed;
- Accurate recipient information has been provided;
- Required customs or compliance documents have been received;
- The customer has approved the shipment;
- All required charges have been paid;
- No unresolved restricted-item or compliance issue remains.
Alicarrier may delay dispatch where necessary to resolve a payment, packaging, customs, address, safety, documentation, or carrier-acceptance issue.
11. Estimated Transit Times
Transit times provided by Alicarrier are estimates unless a specific written service guarantee is expressly confirmed.
Estimated transit time normally begins when the shipment is accepted or scanned by the international carrier. It does not normally begin when:
- The customer first submits an inquiry;
- The customer pays for the products;
- The supplier ships to the China warehouse;
- The package first arrives at the warehouse;
- Packing or consolidation begins;
- A shipping label is created but the carrier has not collected the shipment.
Estimated transit time may not include:
- Warehouse processing;
- Customs-clearance time;
- Security inspections;
- Delivery appointments;
- Weekends;
- Public holidays;
- Remote-area transfers;
- Recipient delays;
- Time awaiting taxes, permits, or documentation.
12. Delivery Delays
International shipments may be delayed by circumstances outside Alicarrier’s reasonable control, including:
- Customs inspections;
- Customs-document requests;
- Import-license requirements;
- Security screening;
- Flight cancellations;
- Airline capacity restrictions;
- Port congestion;
- Vessel schedule changes;
- Rail or road interruptions;
- Severe weather;
- Natural disasters;
- Public holidays;
- Peak-season congestion;
- Strikes or labor disputes;
- Government actions;
- War, civil unrest, or sanctions;
- Public-health restrictions;
- Carrier network disruptions;
- Incorrect or incomplete recipient information;
- Recipient failure to respond;
- Unpaid duties, taxes, or clearance charges.
An estimated delivery date is not a guaranteed delivery date unless Alicarrier expressly confirms a guaranteed service in writing.
A normal transportation delay, without confirmed physical loss or damage, does not automatically qualify for a freight refund or compensation.
13. Tracking Information
Where tracking is available, Alicarrier will provide:
- A tracking number;
- A carrier reference;
- A freight document number;
- A bill of lading number;
- An air waybill number;
- Another available shipment reference.
Tracking information may take time to appear after dispatch.
Some economical, consolidated, postal, sea, rail, or specialized channels may provide:
- Delayed tracking updates;
- Limited milestone updates;
- No detailed updates while goods are in transit;
- A different local tracking number after customs clearance;
- Tracking only after transfer to the destination carrier.
A lack of immediate tracking updates does not necessarily mean that a shipment has been lost.
14. Delivery Address Requirements
Customers must provide a complete and accurate delivery address, including where applicable:
- Recipient’s full legal name;
- Company name;
- Street address;
- Building or apartment number;
- City;
- State, province, or region;
- Postal or ZIP code;
- Country;
- Active telephone number;
- Email address;
- Tax number or importer identification number;
- Delivery instructions.
The customer is responsible for verifying the delivery information before dispatch.
Alicarrier is not responsible for delivery failure, delay, loss, return, or additional charges caused by incorrect, incomplete, outdated, or misleading delivery information supplied by the customer.
15. Address Changes
An address-change request must be submitted before dispatch.
Once a shipment has entered the carrier network, Alicarrier cannot guarantee that the address can be changed.
An address correction may be subject to:
- Carrier approval;
- Customs approval;
- Additional handling fees;
- Re-routing charges;
- Storage charges;
- Re-delivery fees;
- A longer delivery period.
The customer is responsible for all costs resulting from a requested or necessary address correction.
16. Split Shipments
Alicarrier may recommend or arrange separate shipments when:
- Products arrive at different times;
- Certain goods require a specialized route;
- Package size or weight exceeds carrier limits;
- Products cannot legally be packed together;
- A single package would create a higher shipping risk;
- The customer requests partial dispatch;
- Customs or carrier requirements require separation.
Each shipment may have a separate:
- Tracking number;
- Shipping charge;
- Customs declaration;
- Delivery date;
- Duty or tax assessment;
- Claim procedure.
Alicarrier will normally obtain customer approval before arranging chargeable split shipments, unless urgent action is reasonably necessary to protect the goods or comply with carrier requirements.
17. Customs Declarations
International shipments may require customs declarations containing information such as:
- Product description;
- Quantity;
- Material;
- Intended use;
- Country of origin;
- Product value;
- Freight value;
- Harmonized System or tariff code;
- Recipient information;
- Importer information;
- Supporting invoices or certificates.
Customers must provide complete and accurate information.
Alicarrier will not intentionally:
- Falsify product descriptions;
- Declare goods as gifts when they are commercial purchases;
- Conceal prohibited goods;
- Use an artificially inaccurate customs value;
- Alter documents to evade taxes or regulations;
- Misrepresent product quantity, material, origin, or use.
Customs authorities retain the final authority to classify, inspect, value, release, reject, seize, return, or destroy imported goods.
18. Customs Duties, VAT, GST and Import Charges
The treatment of customs duties and taxes depends on the confirmed shipping arrangement.
18.1 Duty-Unpaid or Non-DDP Shipping
Unless the quotation expressly states that import duties and taxes are included, the customer, recipient, or importer is responsible for:
- Customs duties;
- Import VAT or GST;
- Sales or consumption taxes;
- Customs brokerage charges;
- Import permits;
- Examination fees;
- Destination handling fees;
- Storage or demurrage;
- Carrier advancement fees;
- Other government or destination charges.
The carrier or customs broker may require payment before releasing or delivering the shipment.
18.2 DDP Shipping
Where Alicarrier expressly confirms a shipment as DDP, the quotation will state which destination charges are included.
A DDP quotation may be subject to:
- Product eligibility;
- Destination availability;
- Accurate customs information;
- Declared-value limits;
- Carrier restrictions;
- Importer or recipient cooperation;
- Exclusions listed in the quotation.
DDP does not automatically include every possible charge unless expressly stated.
Charges caused by inaccurate customer information, undeclared goods, recipient non-cooperation, exceptional customs action, prohibited products, storage, re-delivery, or changed import requirements may remain payable by the customer.
18.3 No Assumption of Tax Inclusion
Terms such as “door-to-door,” “shipping included,” or “delivery service” do not necessarily mean that customs duties and taxes are included.
Only a quotation or invoice that expressly states DDP, duties included, or another clearly defined tax-inclusive arrangement should be treated as including the specified import charges.
19. Importer and Recipient Responsibilities
Depending on the destination and shipping method, the customer or recipient may be required to act as the importer of record or cooperate with the appointed importer or customs broker.
The customer or recipient may need to:
- Provide identification;
- Provide a tax or customs number;
- Sign an authorization;
- Confirm the purpose of import;
- Submit permits or certificates;
- Respond to customs questions;
- Pay applicable destination charges;
- Attend an inspection;
- Collect goods from a terminal or customs facility.
Failure to cooperate may result in delay, return, seizure, storage, abandonment, or disposal.
20. Restricted and Prohibited Goods
Customers must disclose the true nature of all goods before shipment.
Certain goods may be prohibited or restricted depending on the shipping method and destination, including:
- Weapons or ammunition;
- Explosives;
- Flammable goods;
- Dangerous chemicals;
- Illegal drugs;
- Controlled medicines;
- Counterfeit products;
- Intellectual-property-infringing goods;
- Batteries;
- Liquids;
- Powders;
- Aerosols;
- Magnets;
- Food;
- Agricultural products;
- Plants or animal products;
- Tobacco or nicotine products;
- Alcohol;
- High-value currency or negotiable instruments;
- Radioactive materials;
- Other regulated or hazardous goods.
Some restricted products may only be shipped through a specialized channel and may require additional documents, packaging, declarations, or fees.
Alicarrier may inspect, refuse, isolate, return, report, or lawfully dispose of undeclared, illegal, dangerous, or prohibited goods.
The customer is responsible for all resulting costs, penalties, claims, and losses caused by inaccurate or incomplete product disclosure.
21. Branded and Intellectual-Property-Sensitive Goods
Branded goods, products bearing logos, replicas, unauthorized merchandise, or products that may infringe intellectual-property rights may be restricted by carriers or customs authorities.
The customer is responsible for confirming that:
- The goods are authentic or lawfully authorized;
- The customer has permission to use submitted logos or designs;
- The goods may legally be exported and imported;
- Required authorization documents are available.
Alicarrier does not guarantee customs clearance for branded goods and may refuse products presenting intellectual-property or compliance risks.
22. Remote-Area Delivery
Some delivery addresses may be classified by the carrier as remote, extended, or difficult-to-service areas.
Remote-area delivery may involve:
- Additional charges;
- Longer transit times;
- Collection from a local service point;
- Transfer to another delivery company;
- Limited delivery frequency;
- No door-to-door availability.
Remote-area charges may be identified before dispatch or applied later after carrier address verification.
The customer is responsible for applicable remote-area charges unless the confirmed quotation expressly includes them.
23. Final-Mile Delivery
After customs clearance, a shipment may be transferred to a local courier, postal operator, trucking company, delivery agent, or collection facility.
The final-mile provider may:
- Assign a new tracking number;
- Contact the recipient;
- Request identity confirmation;
- Request duty or tax payment;
- Schedule a delivery appointment;
- Deliver to a collection point;
- Require a signature;
- Make a limited number of delivery attempts.
Customers are responsible for monitoring the shipment and responding promptly to the final-mile carrier.
24. Failed Delivery
Delivery may fail because of:
- Incorrect address;
- Incomplete address;
- Recipient absence;
- Invalid telephone number;
- Refusal to accept the parcel;
- Failure to pay duties or taxes;
- Failure to provide customs information;
- Failure to collect the parcel;
- Restricted access to the delivery location;
- Recipient relocation;
- Business closure.
The customer is responsible for charges arising from:
- Re-delivery;
- Address correction;
- Storage;
- Customs handling;
- Return transportation;
- Disposal;
- Reshipment;
- Additional brokerage.
Failure to receive a shipment does not automatically qualify the customer for a refund.
25. Returned-to-Sender Shipments
A carrier or customs authority may return a shipment because of:
- Delivery failure;
- Customs rejection;
- Prohibited goods;
- Missing documents;
- Unpaid charges;
- Incorrect address;
- Recipient refusal;
- Carrier restrictions;
- Government action.
If a shipment is returned, Alicarrier will notify the customer after receiving reliable confirmation.
The customer may be responsible for:
- Return freight;
- Import or export charges;
- Warehouse receiving;
- Storage;
- Inspection;
- Repacking;
- Reshipment;
- Disposal;
- Other third-party charges.
Original shipping charges are generally non-refundable once the carrier has accepted and transported the shipment.
26. Unclaimed, Abandoned or Undeliverable Goods
If goods cannot be delivered or returned and the customer does not respond within a reasonable period, the carrier, customs authority, warehouse, or Alicarrier may treat the goods as unclaimed or abandoned, subject to applicable law.
Possible outcomes may include:
- Continued storage;
- Return to origin;
- Transfer to third-party storage;
- Sale where legally permitted;
- Destruction;
- Disposal.
All related costs may be charged to the customer.
27. Shipping Insurance
Optional cargo or parcel insurance may be available for certain routes and products.
Insurance must normally be requested and paid for before dispatch.
Coverage may depend on:
- Product category;
- Declared value;
- Packaging;
- Shipping route;
- Destination;
- Insurer exclusions;
- Evidence requirements;
- Claim deadlines.
Insurance may not cover:
- Supplier defects;
- Product quality disputes;
- Inadequate original packaging;
- Normal wear;
- Customs seizure;
- Illegal or undeclared goods;
- Inaccurate declarations;
- Delivery delay without physical loss;
- Consequential business losses;
- Other policy exclusions.
Customers should review the available coverage before authorizing shipment.
28. Loss and Damage
Customers should inspect packages as soon as possible after delivery.
If a package appears damaged, the recipient should, where possible:
- Photograph the unopened external package;
- Photograph all shipping labels;
- Record visible damage;
- Request that the carrier note the damage;
- Preserve the packaging;
- Record an unboxing video;
- Contact Alicarrier promptly.
Claims may require:
- Order number;
- Tracking number;
- Proof of value;
- External-package photographs;
- Internal-packaging photographs;
- Product photographs;
- Unboxing video;
- Damage report;
- Repair estimate;
- Carrier documentation.
Compensation is subject to the carrier’s or insurer’s rules, evidence requirements, liability limits, exclusions, and claim deadlines.
Alicarrier will provide reasonable assistance but cannot guarantee that a carrier or insurer will approve a claim.
29. Packaging and Fragile Goods
Alicarrier may recommend additional packaging for:
- Glass;
- Ceramics;
- Electronics;
- Precision equipment;
- Artwork;
- Furniture;
- Products with delicate retail packaging;
- Other fragile or high-value goods.
Additional protection may include:
- Bubble wrap;
- Foam;
- Corner protection;
- Double cartons;
- Waterproof wrapping;
- Wooden crates;
- Pallets;
- “Fragile” labels.
No packaging method can eliminate all transportation risk.
If a customer declines recommended protective packaging, the decision may affect claim eligibility and compensation.
30. Customer-Induced Delays
Alicarrier is not responsible for delays caused by the customer’s failure to:
- Pay required charges;
- Approve photographs or packaging;
- Confirm the shipping method;
- Provide an accurate address;
- Provide customs documents;
- Provide identification;
- Respond to messages;
- Confirm product information;
- Cooperate with the carrier or customs authority.
Storage and additional handling fees may apply while the shipment is waiting for customer action.
31. Carrier and Route Changes
Alicarrier may change a carrier, route, transit hub, flight, vessel, delivery partner, or shipping method where reasonably necessary because of:
- Carrier suspension;
- Capacity restrictions;
- Safety concerns;
- Customs requirements;
- Route closure;
- Operational disruption;
- Product restrictions;
- Government action.
Where the change materially affects the price or expected service, Alicarrier will seek customer approval where reasonably possible.
32. Events Outside Our Reasonable Control
Alicarrier is not responsible for failure or delay caused by events outside our reasonable control, including:
- Natural disasters;
- Severe weather;
- Fire or flood;
- Epidemics;
- War;
- Terrorism;
- Civil unrest;
- Government restrictions;
- Sanctions;
- Customs actions;
- Port or airport closure;
- Carrier suspension;
- Labor disputes;
- Cybersecurity incidents;
- Power or communication failures;
- Transportation network disruptions.
Alicarrier will make reasonable efforts to communicate significant confirmed disruptions and identify available alternatives.
33. Limitation of Shipping Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Alicarrier is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential losses, including:
- Lost profits;
- Lost sales;
- Missed business opportunities;
- Production interruption;
- Loss of market value;
- Reputational damage;
- Penalties owed to third parties;
- Loss resulting solely from delay.
Any direct compensation may be limited by:
- The carrier’s liability terms;
- The insurer’s policy;
- The declared value;
- The selected shipping method;
- The amount paid for the affected service;
- Mandatory applicable law.
Nothing in this Policy excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
34. Changes to This Shipping Policy
Alicarrier may update this Shipping Policy to reflect changes in:
- Shipping routes;
- Carrier requirements;
- Warehouse procedures;
- Customs rules;
- Available services;
- Insurance terms;
- Legal obligations.
The revised version will be published on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date.
The version applicable to a shipment will normally be the version in effect when the shipment is confirmed, unless mandatory law requires otherwise.
